JobcentrePlus Project
Prepared Project
Round 3 ESF Co-Financing North West region
Project Description
The project will take 280 IB, Lone Parent and 50+ customers towards getting into and keeping jobs. We will provide workless individuals with the pre-vocational skills (including basic and soft skills) confidence that they can meet employer needs and make work pay and support in retaining jobs through a programme which establishes their existing skills and needs, vocational aptitudes and ambitions, provides pre-placement provision, placements and transition support.
Specific activities will include organising local launch events and securing media publicity for these and briefing JCP, brokerage and community organisations who could support referral, (b) recruiting 280 beneficiaries via referral, community outreach plus drop in awareness events (c) developing individual action plans using a combination of 1 to 1 interviews and group work, vocational aptitude assessment, employability / soft skills baseline review and SFL screening , and identifying support needs (d) providing a part time six week centre based programme combining motivational and confidence building workshops including exercises in which beneficiaries identify the value of the skills and experience they bring, and how these relate to jobs.
We will also support presentations by employers, videos and case studies in this. We will use job familiarisation via visits to employers. Individual / group work on projects, and on pre-vocational skills will also develop core and soft skills.
All beneficiaries will have the opportunity to gain OCN Job Ready accreditation, weekly review meetings with a mentor to review progress and record achievement and to identify placement / taster opportunities (e) supporting tasters / placements over a five week period to familiarise beneficiaries with the world at work, allow them to demonstrate what they can achieve combined with part time attendance at the centre to further develop key, soft and pre-vocational skills. (f) a two week programme to support job search / next steps planning and prepare beneficiaries for transition to work including via workshops in interview / presentation skills, putting together a CV, budgeting skills and transition from benefit to wage.
