Project Description
This project will support companies and their employees by working with the companies to establish their training needs. When this has been done, companies will be informed about Train to Gain / Train to Gain brokerage and supported directly where workers needs are for improvements in their Skills for Life achievements.
Delivery will be through on-site training for staff at a time that takes into account shift patterns thus minimising time away from production activities. The training provided to the workforce will be at a level appropriate to their previous achievement.
For this Project we will:-
- Agree protocols for coverage so that the service is available across the whole of Lancashire
- Agree marketing and publicity mechanisms including through using intermediary organisations and agencies such as Union Learning Representatives.
- Use specialist staff to link with SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) and undertake BNAs (Business Needs Analysis)
- Develop with the SMEs action plans in order to respond to the training needs identified (including referencing other forms of support –Train to Gain and brokerage services.)
- Where the BNA indicates a need for Skills for Life intervention work on a 1 to 1 basis with employees to secure their engagement.
- Recruit beneficiaries to Skills for Life Learning at whatever level appropriate given the existing skills holding of the worker (ESOL, Literacy or/and Numeracy)
- Deliver a flexible programme that responds to the individuals work pattern and allows them to stop and resume learning as their work/life balance requires.
- Support next steps in learning.
In undertaking this intervention we will draw on staff who are qualified Basic Skills Tutors at Level 4 and undertake the activity within both the Basic Skills Kite mark standards and quality procedures that meet ALI/Ofsted requirements
