Adapt Projects
Managing Change
Aim
This project will support the growth of businesses through work to raise the level of supervisory and management skills and the competencies of managers to support learning in enterprise.
Through co-ordination of provision available through FE Colleges, and using ICT to enhance the flexibility of provision we will:
More effectively match training provision with enterprise and individual needs
Enable individuals to use bite sized and just in time training/accredited workplace learning to gain credits towards awards, including for entry to Foundation degrees. Objectives
The objectives of this project are:
To review the range of supervisory/management training available and capacity to support blended learning against needs/preferred learning styles. This will be done via focus groups meetings to review initial, interim and final position thus tracking progress through the project.
To carry out development work to ensure provision is better co-ordinated and more responsive. This will involve:
Development of content to support blended learning. Over the period of the project we will enhance content for team leaders, supervisory workplace mentoring programmes and to enable people to build a portfolio for entry to foundation degrees through workplace learning.
Staff development (including 'peer group mentors') re using blended learning, 50 people will take part in this.
To offer supervisory and management development programmes, both meeting immediate needs and testing new approaches developed through the project. Over the period 171 supervisors/managers will take part in programmes. One particular objective of work with supervisors/managers will be to help them apply their learning in other workplace. We will also work to:
Establish systems/support to enable the beneficiaries to continue their own learning
Establish their capacity to support workplace learning.Activity
This project combines development work with delivery of supervisory/management training. In pilot work/delivery of the programme the stages will be:
Working with individuals business to identify a learning plan against business needs
Action planning with individual beneficiaries
Delivery of a learning programme, including ICT and open learning to overcome barriers than can otherwise limit access to training by key staff especially in SMEs
Accrediting competencies to nationally recognised standards at level 3 or 4 (or credits towards these)
Providing performance support tools and supporting skill application in the workplace (including in setting up learning workplaces)The project will also review/monitor business impact. Each company will work with their college partners to set up a series of impact indicators relating to the benefits they hope to get from the training. These could include additional sales, improved staff retention rates, particular new process introduction, and productivity indicators. The impact will be measure by the extent to which the project reaches these goals.
Over the project period its partners will enhance the flexibility of provision:
In relating content/programme to the individual/employer needs via a wide range of options
In using ICT (learning content, support tool, web links, FAQs, discussion forums) to allow learners to blend provision.
This use of ICT, including forums, combined with networking/collaboration and exchange is critical to success in management development.Target Group

Include a specific focus on SMEs
