Adapt Projects
Integrating Disabled Employees
Aim
This project will support more and better provision to enable people with disabilities to gain qualifications, enter employment and progress in this employment.
It also addresses barriers in access to learning, including those arising from inflexibility in provision, which is especially relevant where health problems lead to discontinuity in attendance and through lack of access, support and appropriate staff/staff skills.
The programme will pay attention to individual needs and will pay particular attention to aftercare, testing new approaches to improve provision in this area.
Objectives
The objectives of this project are:
To support the development of better practice in provision for disabled people through producing at least four good practice guides, plus an evaluation study and organising at least two county wide, plus local workshops. These will be phased over 2003.
To support local delivery of programmes taking beneficiaries through guidance, basic and key skills development, vocational training leading to accredited awards and support into/to sustained employment. Over the period September 2002 to December 2003, 112 people will be supported via this programme through local delivery in West and East Lancashire, and in North Manchester .
To evaluate the experience/good practice developed, produce a final report and share the results. While formative evaluation and review will take place throughout delivery, as will dissemination, a final report/dissemination programme will be organised for November/December 2003.Activity

Addressing any core skills/basic skills needs, personal needs (including confidence/motivation) and career planning.
